Managing Remnants

The topic of remnants in stone industry takes a special place. Many fabricators are now offering a huge variety of them making discounts and creating web sites where people can make inquiries about the availability of such products. Indeed, why a person should pay for the entire slab of granite or other stones when all he needs is vanity top, fireplace surround, or a small kitchen countertop. Remnants are affordable and beautiful. Just perfect for smaller projects, all you have to do is to find the right size and color.

In easystoneshop much attention was paid to the topic of remnants as well. The inventory module allows to add to the system not only a solid slab, but its part as well. This remnant will be self-sufficient and will be located in the same table with other slabs.

Practically you have to do the following:

When you add a unit, in the field “Remains” you select “Yes” if you wish to add a remnant and “No” if you wish to add a solid slab.

In the picture below you can see how 6 slabs were added. 3 of them are solid and 3 remnants. The differences between them can be made by means of such columns as "Unit ID", "Size" and "Cost". Actually you are the one who does it. You fill in the empty fields as it is shown in the picure above.

It is not necessary to add a remnant as a new unit with a new ID number. You can edit the already existing one. You click on a solid slab, change its size, change “No” into “Yes” in the field “Remains” and receive the added remnant which preserved its ID.

Another useful function that easystoneshop offers is its own system of remnants interchange among the registered users. Being a registered member yourself, you can search to buy remnants from other companies or people who are users of easystoneshop.

Now we will show you how it works:

At first you sign in and go to the “Suppliers” module. Adding a new supplier you do not give your name to the new supplier, but choose from the list of already existing ones. Having typed first letters of a supplier's name you will see him in the list at once. Then you press apply to finish the adding. As a result you have got a real supplier with his own list of offered remains, solid slabs, price list and profile.
